Finance Minister Robinson Githae’s honeymoon is over if he has not yet realised this salient fact. It might have escaped him that Kenyans are a mere seven months away from the General Election. If he missed all the usual signs we can remind him of the increased number of helicopters buzzing overhead with ‘Politician On Board’ stickers, a rise in bank robberies, and there is more ‘Haki Yetu!’ and ‘Solidarity Forever...’ compositions as teachers threaten to go on strike. Mr Githae might seek tips from predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta who confessed to having “cut a deal with teachers in the dead of night” before things became real elephant! Remember, these are the same fellows who were ordered to rest and not engage in teaching students in April, August, and December.
Anglo Leasing or not, the arrival or even just expectation of the docking of KNS Jaziri from a Spanish shipyard is welcome news for Kenya. Those looking not-so-glad should be Al Shabaab fighters holed up in Kismayu for they will be the first objects for target practice to determine whether the cannons the builders fitted can actually fire. Remember this is a 2003 Sh4.1 billion floating contraption that was due for delivery in 2005. Yeah, well, three Transport ministers, three Finance ministers and an election later is not too bad...Is it?
Please stop bashing Mr Police Commish Mathew Iteere. The man is innocent. Critics should direct their fury at the “Grad Korishon” principals who have given us a rocking chair to watch the red herring called National Police Commission swim around the fishbowl. Palaver has since established that CIC chief Charles Nyachae is right since the Constitution provides that a selection committee appointed by the principals should have given us the first Police Inspector General by August last year. The National Police Commission will only appoint subsequent Inspectors-General.
Did Amos Kimunya consult acting PNU Chairman Konchellah before joining a group photo with TNA’s Uhuru Kenyatta, GNU’s Mwangi Kiunjuri, and Kiraitu Murungi’s M’bus? Is there substance to talk that PNU has disowned the alleged pact?
