In the intervening years he has coached African club sides notably Raja Casablanca who he guided to the CAF Confederation Cup title.
The other senior coach in FKF’s radar is Domenech, 60, who led France to two World Cup finals in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010 besides the 2008 Euro. Domenech backs up his playing career at Lyon with years of youth development with French Football Federation from 1993 to 2004.
The other two coaches are ambitious young Belgians, Adel Amrouche, 44, and Tom Saintfiet, 39. Amrouche has coached Burundi national team — twice guiding them to the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup semi finals, and impressive showing in the World Cup qualifiers.
He has also twice won the Premier League of the Democratic Republic of Congo with DC Motema Pembe and boasts an impressive youth development profile in Burundi and Belgium.
Saintfiet, who led Yanga to their successful defence of their Cecafa Club title , has coached Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ethiopia and most recently as Nigerian Technical Director.
