Narc-Kenya presidential aspirant Martha Karua extended her vote hunt to the pastoralist communities in North Rift, saying if elected she would provide policies to fight poverty and hunger.
Ms Karua promised that her government will clear corruption within the corridors of power and ensure no Kenyan dies of hunger and lack of medication.
“My government will wipe out corruption which has pulled the country backwards. I will ensure the farming communities are supported to produce enough food for the country,” she pledged.
Police reforms
Karua who started her campaigns early in the week has toured Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia and Pokot, among other counties in the region.
“The Government has done little to help farmers reap better income from cereals production. Middlemen have taken advantage of Government’s failure to empower farmers to exploit them,” she stated.
Her government, she said, will ensure farmers are motivated through incentives and better prices.
Karua regretted majority of Kenyans are unable to access medical services.
“The drugs are unaffordable for most Kenyans and some cannot access better health services because of high levels of corruption,” she said.
In West Pokot, Karua accused the Government of marginalising pastoralist regions and subjecting the residents to hard life. Accompanied by East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Augustine Monges Lotodo, Karua said the economic hardships facing residents in the region are caused by Government neglect.
Karua also cited insecurity as a big challenge to the economic growth and asked the Government to prioritise national security. She also called for the full implementation of police reforms.
