US President Barack Obama’s grandmother Mama Sarah Obama is recuperating at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.

The granny, 91, developed breathing difficulties at her Nyang’oma home in Siaya. She was then rushed for medical attention yesterday evening.

When The Standard visited her at the hospital, Mama Sarah was responding well to treatment and would be discharged Friday.

“I am now feeling well. I can now talk. The pain has gone down and I have no problem at the moment,” she said. Mr Odunga Mamba, who was among relatives who rushed Mama Sarah to hospital, said she could not walk but added her condition was now improving.

Doctors who were attending to her told the family members that she was still under observation. In March, Mama Sarah was injured in a road accident when her car rolled. She survived with bruises.
