Depending on the distance, try to understand the terminologies used in flight. It is important to know the difference between ‘direct’ and ‘non-stop’ flights, and always opt for the latter. Unlike non-stops, direct flights can touch down at other airports on the way to their ultimate destinations. It also saves you on lost hours or even fatigue.
Compare Airfares
Given the variety of airlines operating different routes, there is a higher probability that competition will make them give different prices. The best way to ensure you’re getting the best deal. It is also advisable not to compromise quality over price. Some airlines will charge less but give you a poor service that will leave you fuming.
Advance Preparation
Advance preparations involve booking in early and confirming that all the details are correct. It is also advisable to prepare early for the flight. This will give you peace of mind as compared to the last minute rush. Pack what you need like clothes, a book or an ipod. Check in on time and ensure your luggage is checked in. Fill in the necessary forms and ensure you are settled in before the flight. Last minute rushes always tends to throw people off balance both physically and emotionally.
Security
With the current terrorism threat, the security within the airport has been tightened. Kindly cooperate with the agencies to avoid embarrassing scenarios. When boarding the aircraft, make a mental note of all exits, and count how many seat rows you pass from the exit to your row. This will expedite your escape route in case of an emergency landing if there is smoke and/or power loss in the cabin. It is also advisable to follow the cabin crew instructions. No matter how boring or uninteresting they may sound, their instructions are vital. Do not ignore them.

In every seat, there are always the aircraft emergency procedures which most of us tend to ignore. They could be lifesavers. Read the manual completely before takeoff.
