By-elections for Kajiado North, Ndhiwa and Kangema constituencies will be held in September 17.  In a statement issued by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) communication department, seven Civic Wards will also go for polls on the same day.

Political parties’ nominations have been set for August 15 and presentation to IEBC will be in August 23, 2012.

Kangema, Ndhiwa, and Kajiado constituencies have been without representations after the death of the late Environment Minister John Michuki, Internal Security Minister George Saitoti and his deputy Hon Joshua Orwa Ojode.

Michuki died in February at the Agha Khan Hospital in Nairobi after being admitted at the Intensive Care Unit following a long illness. While Saitoti and Ojode died on June 10 in an ill-fated chopper crash at Kibiku area in Ngong.

The two from the Internal Security Ministry died alongside two pilots Captain Nancy Gituanja and Captain Luke Oyugi and two bodyguards inspector Joshua Tonkei and  sergeant Thomas Murimi.

The Chopper left early in the morning from Wilson Aiport and was headed towards Ndhiwa in Homabay County for a fundraiser before the tragedy occurred.

Investigations into the crash is ongoing.
