The legislator said the two presidential aspirants should continue to engage each other for the sake of their joint purpose. He said unless the two leaders united, it would be an uphill task to keep at bay the ODM presidential contender.
Speaking at Karatina Stadium on Friday during the Mathira schools prize giving day, Maina said the two leaders should team up and come out with a single name of whom to support.
The Igembe South MP, Mithika Linturi who was also present claimed Kikuyus were their own enemies for fielding many presidential aspirants.
Linturi said the Meru community has always been grouped together with the Kikuyus while this is only meant for political expediency.
“After the common enemy is defeated by the entire Mt.Kenya region, the Meru community are no longer relevant to the rest of our cousins as their only purpose is to use us,” he said.
Linturi stated that he backed national unity as the country belongs to all communities residing in Kenya, and no individual community is greater than the nation.
The MP also noted the acute shortage of teachers in most schools in his constituency. He urged the Education PS Professor George Godia, who was present, to address the issue urgently.
