Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka moved to consolidate support in his Ukambani backyard, declaring that he would engage in a hard-talk to shame presidential aspirants who want to portray themselves as reformists.
Whipping up the support of 12 legislators largely from the Lower Eastern region and key leaders from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties, Kalonzo appeared keen to solidify his support base.
And the VP was symbolically offered to Kenyans by the Kamba Council of Elders at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, and urged to engage other leaders to win the next elections.
“The journey starts after the Mwingi rally on Saturday. We must win this struggle this time round because there is no way that evil can triumph over good,” announced Kalonzo.
The VP said he would counter his critics who have portrayed him as a weak candidate. He listed development projects he had initiated in the area over years and discounted critics that he had failed to assist the region.

“I have the experience spanning over 28 years now and I have never placed the entire Ukambani or even my constituency to shame. I refuse to be looked down upon,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo reiterated that Kenyans should not be deceived by people portraying themselves as reformists, when they have in the past engaged in criminal activities and other corrupt activities. Kalonzo said Kenyans should not be duped into following “people who have admitted in their books to having taken part in the aborted 1982 coup”.
“They portray themselves as reformers during the day but at night they engage in deals that oppress Kenyans,” he said. Kalonzo moves to Makueni County on Wednesday, Kitui on Friday before seeking the final blessings in Mwingi North on Saturday.
