Four children are among 11 suspects arrested in the investigation into the killing of a head teacher.

Three Class Seven pupils are from SDA Iboi Academy in Tinderet District, Nandi, which Wilson Chepkwony headed before his body was found on the Kapsabet-Nandi Hills road on Sunday morning.

The other, a Class Eight candidate, is from another school.

Kapsabet OCPD Nelson Okioga told The Standard that police were still going on with the investigation into the murder.

“We are doing our best to ensure that justice is done. We urge the public not to interfere with police investigation,” Okioga said.

Found dead

It was reported that the deceased was drinking with his friends on Saturday night before he left for home on a boda boda only to be found dead the following morning.

Meanwhile, elders conducted a ritual at the scene of the headmaster’s murder in Meswo village and the mortuary where the body is lying.

An old man, believed to be bestowed with divine powers, led the exercise conducted on Tuesday. His identity was withheld.

Hundreds of angry residents turned up to participate in the ritual before the initiator and family members of the deceased left for the mortuary where another secret ritual was conducted.

Chief of Kiminda location, Ms Priscilla Metto, said Chepkwony’s family and residents agreed to seek divine powers despite the arrest of 11 suspects.
