Police in Kandara have launched a manhunt for a woman who escaped mysteriously as she was being escorted to Thika town for a medical checkup.

The murder suspect, Annie Waithera Nginda hoodwinked police officers escorting her to Thika district hospital that she wanted to buy sanitary towels when she escaped.

Kigumo Deputy OCPD Mr. Juma Londoh said they have been looking for the woman who disappeared last Friday.

Londoh said the suspect was in custody for allegedly killing her boyfriend who died at Kenyatta National Hospital two weeks ago while undergoing treatment. The deceased was being treated for wounds he sustained after being splashed with hot water after a quarrel with the suspect.

The police, Londoh said, have launched a manhunt and called on members of the public to volunteer information that will lead to her arrest.

Sources disclosed that before being allowed to buy sanitary towels, the male officer who escorted her was called aside by somebody, hence leaving his colleague in charge.

The female police officer, the source revealed, received a telephone call, only to realise later that the suspect had disappeared.
