Women protest board constitution

Updated Wednesday, May 16th 2012 at 00:00 GMT +3

Women leaders in Garissa on Tuesday protested over the appointment of the Garissa Water and Sewerage Company terming it unconstitutional. The women from various lobby groups and civil society organisations said the board constituted by the Northern Water Services Board fell short of the constitutional requirements as it had only one woman out the 11 board members. The women led by Womankind Kenya Chairperson Ms Hubi Hussein said they would seek legal redress over the matter unless the board was freshly constituted.
